Privacy Ideas for Your Windows

8/30/2018

Privacy Ideas for your windows
We all love windows. They bring light and air into your home. The only downside is that they do not offer privacy. Without a covering or treatment, anyone can see inside through the window. This can be particularly obvious at night when the interior lights make it even easier to see into your home. Privacy is important, especially in bathrooms, and homeowners should take the time to choose appropriate window treatments to achieve the amount of privacy that they need.

Blinds

When it comes to window privacy, blinds are an excellent choice.  There are a wide variety of options available. Venetian blinds or horizontal blinds are one of the most popular options, and they come in a variety of different materials including wood, vinyl, faux wood, or plastic. There are other types of blinds including vertical blinds, which are often used to cover large windows or glass doorways. You can also purchase blinds that are built into the window. The window comes with the blinds already built in or you can purchase a kit that installs over your current window. These window blinds are excellent because they provide privacy, you don’t have to dust them, and your pets and kids cannot get tangled up in them.

Shades

Shades are similar to blinds, but instead of slats, they use fabric. Some of the different kinds of shades that are available include roller shades, Roman shades, and honeycomb shades. Shades sometimes allow light to filter through while still providing complete privacy.
Curtains for Privacy

Curtains can be combined with blinds or shades for both decoration and privacy. They come in many different fabrics and colors. Sheer curtains allow light into your home, but they may not provide the best privacy. You can choose heavier curtains that will provide complete privacy and block out the light.

Window Film

Window decals or window films are easy to install yourself. They can improve your privacy and security in a variety of situations. For example, window films can be used in bathrooms, bedrooms, front doors, and more. They are usually applied on the inside of the window. This is an inexpensive option instead of replacing your current windows with etched or glazed glass. This is also convenient if you are renting because the film can be removed when you move out.

Exterior Window Privacy Screens

Exterior window privacy screens work well for bathrooms. They allow you to open the window while maintaining your privacy. The privacy screens usually feature slats and are installed on the outside of your home.
Interior Shutters

Interior shutters provide privacy and are frequently added to bathrooms and kitchens. These shutters have slats on doors, and the doors can often be moved completely out of the way offering an unobstructed view. The slats can be opened or closed by a piece of wood running down the center of all the slats so you can choose to open or close the slats, or you can open or close the shutter doors.
Textured Glass or Frosted Glass Windows for privacy

Textured glass is a tasteful way to provide privacy in your bathroom or on your front doors. Instead of being clear and smooth, this glass has a textured finish. This prevents people from seeing much through this type of glass because everything is distorted. This type of glass is often used for shower doors, bathroom windows, and front doors.

These are the 7 Privacy Ideas for Your Windows. Privacy is important, and homeowners should take the time to choose appropriate window treatments to achieve the amount of privacy that they need.
